Light, Hope and Truth

Tony Grannell

Where blends the ether’s peace and quiet
adrift in time unmanned.
Existing in the nothingness,
devoid of all command.
An empire of a hallowed void
to share without respite.
Of all who place their hopes in it,
the coming of the light.

To the comforts of persuasion
when tempted in by doubt.
While stripping down the innocent
to lead the guilty out.
Relinquished in the midst of dusk,
a seam ’twixt day and night.
Where evil comes to wallow in
the dark side of the light.

Of judgments lost in changing pleas,
where destinies collude.
The source of which will never know
why evil must intrude.
The virtuous to justify
when not a hope in sight.
In the patient light of fairness,
the truth will win the fight.

Within the dark of life’s domain
there is a grace at play.
Out of the ruins of yester-ills
keeps hopelessness at bay.
Tomorrow is a constant truth
not leaning left or right.
Positioned in the center of
an empire ruled by light.

A lovely poem Tony different from some of your others. This more philosophical or spiritual, depending upon how you see it. The metaphor of light and truth being used. The battle between good and evil equivalent to the battle between truth and the false or knowledge and ignorance, day and night, darkness and light. Nicely written it shows the interplay and the view that truth wins out in the end. Well written with good rhyme my friend

      Hello, Soren,

A tad different, it's all to do with mood, you should agree, what mood one is in when of a poem. This one came from Gandhi: right alwys wins in the end. I have very much enjoyed your response. That you have given your time to this poem is very much appreciated, truly.

      Wishing you much happiness,

      Tony.

Always a pleasure my friend. I have found Gandhi a fascinating man who's thoughts changed a nation. With a philosophy that the world would be better for. Christ like in many ways and just like him he died a couple of years before I was born. Have a wonderful day

        Marvellous poetry dear Tony,

And this brings me such comfort...

In the patient light of fairness,
the truth will win the fight

Actually the whole poem does but for today I'll settle with being content in knowing my poet friend just gave me hope. 🌹

          This could be Britain today.
          Darkness and light.
          Truth and lies.
In the centre we might come through.

          • Tony Grannell

            Hello, Paul,

I do agree, the centre is usually where the answers are found. So kind of you to drop by and it is very much appreciated.

            Wishing you all the best,

            Tony.

Wonderful poem, Tony! I share your hope that fairness and truth will ultimately prevail, though I confess my patience gets tested regularly! LOL! Still, giving up would accomplish absolutely nothing. Really appreciated this one, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
