Natures Gateway

cully45

Down the lane not far from home

Along the pathway I like to roam

Is a secluded part that I walk through

So majestic in the morning dew

And a pathway littered with discarded leaves

That have dropped by the surrounding trees

Hedgerows so green they invite you to pass

Here and there an occasional blade of grass

At the end in view a split fence looms

Nearby a flower gently blooms

This magical walkway so serene

As you leave you know you have been

Passing through a lovely place

Which brings a smile to any face

Such is the serenity of the moment walking

The thing you notice most, no one is talking

As I move further along my walk

I hear the birds they do chatter and talk

Amongst themselves in a way oblivious to me

But I can hear and I can see

My wind meanders to times gone by

When other people have the same way as I

Did they appreciate the walk the way I do

Curiosity fills my mind and I hope they got lost in time like I do too

The Trees look down on this mortal soul

Their leaves scattering beneath them far below

Little creatures scamper about

From out of the hedgerows being nosy no doubt

There just as curious as I have become as I trundle along

Occasionally a Bird with burst into song

It just sums the mood as my walk comes to end

At least this morning I may have made a new friend

As I walk through the gate at end of the footpath out into a road

All the enjoyment I have felt now gently flowed

Making me feel as though my walk was worthwhile

After all I must have walked three or four mile
