The Art of Staying Soft

Dev Parth

I have seen people become strangers
to the dreams they once held dear,
chasing a life that looks like happiness
while forgetting why they came here.

And somewhere in this endless running,
between the wanting and the wait,
we forget that even a beautiful life
is built from moments that seem ordinary.

So today, I want to move a little slower,
to let the evening touch my face,
to stop measuring my worth
by how far I have won the race.

I want to keep my heart unguarded,
not foolish, just sincere,
to give the world a little kindness
without letting it consume me with fear.

Because perhaps growing older
is not about becoming stone,
but learning how to face the world
without losing the softness we have known.

And if tonight I have done nothing
that the world would call great,
let me still be proud of the person
who chose to love instead of hate.

Maybe the quietest victory
is living through another day
and still having a gentle heart
in a world that teaches it to change.
