Drowning in the miracle river of no return.
We love so deeply, we love each other so deeply that we swim in waters that sparkle with miracles. If you believe in them. Which we do, because we’ve found one another.
So we strip our souls bare; we are as naked as an old English oak tree in the middle of a freezing cold December.
And oh boy, we swim so deep, deeper than I’ve ever swum with anybody else.
The water is crystal clear, designed for me to look straight through into a soul that is you.
Water so clean that we can truly see one another. We see each excited atom that makes up our physical vessels. We see every scar. Every moment that has made us who we are. We are even able to behold each other’s spiritual flames. Even in the deepest water, they stay alight because, remember, these waters are made up of nothing but miracles, as we are. That’s when we notice our flames are the same. Twins bound together by space and time.
As we swim, our hands interlock. We begin to bear witness to colours that have never existed before, unable to be seen with any other souls but our own, but each other’s. We don’t just physically and spiritually swim so deeply; our conversations are abyssal. We learn to speak in a language only we are fluent in, only we can understand.
The both of us: truly seen. I see you as you see me, in a river that runs so deep and so crystal clean.
And like two otters, we continue to dive deeper and deeper. We stay and we play all our nights and days away in these miracle waters and begin to learn what is really important.
Over time, our interlocked hands begin to lose grip, but we stay clinging on, even if it is just by our fingertips. Things begin to get in the way. But we just look away, because we are here to make love stay.
We use the power to be able to truly see each other as an anchor to each other’s flesh and bone: each of our earthly homes.
One day, just like two otters, we are swimming, diving and playing as otters do… I am confused because you keep on speaking, but I can’t quite understand you. In a language that is made for just two. But we are here to make love stay, so we just swim on through. At least we can still laugh in the same language. So that’s what we do to avoid bathing in anguish.
With weakened communication, I rely on my emerald eyes to look upon the flame in your soul, but it’s starting to flicker, it’s starting to grow dimmer.
I try and scream your name in our own secret tongue, but it comes out just a pathetic whisper.
Then I notice my fingers feel bare. I look down at my lonely fingertips to find yours no longer there.
Suddenly, water starts to rush and push in every different direction. I try looking for my soul in yours, but the crystal clear water is beginning to become polluted with all of our ignorance. So I can’t see my reflection.
All those beautiful colours that only you and I can see are starting to melt away.
Gloriously polluting the water like a liquid saturated sunset that begs to stay.
Now the river is surging; my body is getting weaker and weaker.
I watch the outline of your frame as our bodies drift deeper and deeper.
The water has become too foggy; I can no longer see where my soul resides.
We’re drowning in the miracle river of no return; we’re going to die by each other’s sides.
I’m losing my love in the depths of the river, the river of no return.
Gone, gone forever, and forever my aching soul will mourn the romance we had in this life time on planet Earth.
