There's Minnie oot the windae
There's Minnie doon the road
She'll be back by Sunday
Wae a washin' load
She did leave wae oot a peep
An' spare me no a glance
She did gie me keys tae keep
An' teach me hoo tae dance

I love poetry set in colloquial language and the Scottish is one of my favorites. This one felt charming and old school in a way like from another time. Short but light hearted. Very nice my friend.
Thanks. You're so right, the poem is inspired by an old old skipping rhyme the girls used to sing doing intricate things with skipping ropes in the school playground in the sixties in Scotland. The rhyme probably goes back to Victorian times. It stuck in my mind.
BibbIty Bowster Brawly
Wha learned you to dance,
You to dance, you to dance?
Wha learned you to dance,
Babbity Bowster brawly?
My minnie learned me to dance,
Me to dance, me to dance,
My minnie learned me to dance,
Babbity Bowster brawly.
Wha ga'e you the keys to keep,
Keys to keep, keys to keep?
Wha ga'e you the keys to keep,
Babbity Bowster brawly?
My minnie ga'e me the keys to keep,
Keys to keep, keys to keep...
I am always enthralled with these old kids songs they have so much history
Oh, Jabberwocky! LOL! I reckon Minnie has the whole weekend planned, and you've only been informed of the bits you're allowed to know! Better practice those dance steps before Sunday! 🤣 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Yeah, I don't dance! That's why I'm single! Thanks for your comment.
