When the light
Begins to fade
Think of me
Beneath your veil
The gargoyle statue
By gates to guard
While a cherub smokes
A large cigar.
To dream of rainbows
As in stories told
Life it drains
We all grow old
Yet words of ink
Somehow survive
On yellowed pages
Maturing wine.
Favourite songs
On radio play
By your kitchen sink
Chores of the day
In twilight
The lantern sways
Its shattered light
From birth to grave.

Norman I take this as metaphoric in nature with the day symbolizing life. I love the middle stanza that speaks to me of being remembered by one's works that one leaves behind. It holds a melancholic and fading feeling. Very nicely done my friend.
thanking you my friend, yes, well summed up, much appreciated
