Skin and Bone

Poet's Dream

The trees are made of skin and bone

They stand together yet alone

They grasp at the fleeting sun

And wish to follow clouds and run

But do you hear their desperate pleas?

Their cries are lost in the breeze

We have forgot our wilder days

When dancing fairies caught our gaze.

When birds would talk and forests grew

Before the world chased tech and new

Now trapped in office walls, we play

While ancient woods are burned away

Rooted into the grass and soil

Lost souls trapped in their turmoil.

Weeping branches, a shadowed caves

Their spirits ash, we cannot save
