The air felt heavy, tight inside my chest,
A rising storm that would not let me rest.
I stepped outside into the quiet air,
To catch my breath and loose the heavy care.
Beside the fence, a shadow soft and still,
A gentle horse stepped down the grassy hill.
No words were said, no sudden movement made,
Just quiet breath within the gentle shade.
I reached my hand, and touched the velvet nose,
And felt the stillness where the panic grows.
A wave of warmth, a slow and steady peace,
That made the tension in my spirit cease.
And in that quiet space where shadows play,
A lovely vision drifted through the day—
A girl appeared, so beautiful and bright,
A sudden spark of unexpected light.
From heavy chest to warmth upon the skin,
The world turned soft, and calm returned within.

- Comment from author about the poem: this poem was based off an experience I had yesterday...I was invited to a college hangout meeting for young adults...as they got loud and excited while playing a game together it triggered the trauma in my nervous system so i stepped outside with my friend, it was nighttime and I walked up to the fenced enclosure (this was in the country) and i watched the horses move around until one of them decided to come up to me and I petted it, for some reason while it let me stroke its mane as i tried to speak to it softly as best i could to make it feel safe with me it kept pointing its nose straight at me i was like "what does it want from me?" then a young woman came out and said hi to me and my friend and i didn't say it out loud but I thought "damn, she is so hot" anyway, since ive lived so much of my life in suffering it was nice to feel a warmth and peace come to me from the animal's presence, which i would describe as pure and holy, the essence of God entirely composes the beast and it gave my nervous system a form of mammalian coregulation, anyway, I am definitely making progress in my healing journey! For that I am grateful!

A wonderful poem about a wonderful experience. Animals can be the catharsis for healing be they dogs or horses they know the pain a person carries inside and unlike people they care. The are also most useful in attracting girls that feel safer and more drawn to a man with an animal. Nicely done
