From The Vast Farmlands
To The Peaks Of Mount Olympus
Mortals And Gods Ready To Retire
Awaiting A Fresh Canvas, Sky Aflame With Fire
Zeus Lifts Himself From A Throne
That Drifts And Reforms
Stretching Out His Arms,
His Veins Like Lightning
Crackling With A Slow-Build
In A Swift Motion He Lassoes
Cumulus Clouds In Line
Binding Them Tightly
With His Stratus Twine
With The Sky All Cleared Up, Vast And Bare
He Pauses—Stillness Hanging In The Air
As If The World Itself Held Its Breath Tight
He Readies To Prepare For Night
The Light Begins To Strain Within His Grip
Gold Starts To Fade At His Fingertips
Amber Bleeds Slowly Into Burning Red
Daylight Collapsing, Nearly Dead
His Fingers Tighten—One Final Sway
And The Sky Begins To Give Away
And Then—It Breaks—
The Darkness Spills In Velvet Waves
Pouring Deep In Hidden Caves
Collapsing Into Night
And Zeus, Just Then, Releases Form
His Breath Still Warm
His Throne Reforms In Nimbus Cloud
The Night Is Reborn
He Blows A Breath Of Stars Through The Sky
The Constellations Began To Form
A Peaceful Night From The God Of The Storms

- Comment from author about the poem: I’ve been wanting to do poems of greek mythology so I decided to start with the obvious. Though personally not my favorite god but I like the idea of him preparing for both day and night.
