Letters to Her #3

JWKP98

What you said makes me think it should be up to me to decide

Whether or not it’s worth it to be by your side

You’re afraid of what you might do? What if down, I want to be tied?

Anger, love, repulse, lust, betray, confide

If I’m willing to find you in the dark, why do you hide?

It won’t be an explosion, watch us melt into each other as we collide

That we have so much fun or match each other’s energy, try to deny

This time, say ‘no,’ but look me in the eye

I know you can’t, it’d be a lie

We could never pull each other to lows that we couldn’t justify

Have we not as of yet to have a moment that wasn’t a high?

So let down your guard, you already know that with me, you needn’t be shy

Fate tempted, chance taken, die rolled, ball thrown

This is my hail Mary, if you can say it, I’ll forever leave it alone

I am happy as your friend, but tell me more hasn’t been sown

I know, I know what I want has long been known

All that I have left to give, this isn’t the first time it’s been shown

So, if you can, with your hand ever so slightly out of reach, with a smile, I will stand on my own
