Letters to Her #4

JWKP98

For want of a diamond, it’s a fool who throws away gold

And I am not that, so I do not try to grab ahold

But there are some things you should be told

You showed me the warmth of the cosmos under an atmosphere that left me cold

The angels try to mimic your elegance in the nebulae

Stars implode upon themselves in shame when you look their way

Selene sings your praises by throwing waves against the rocks of the bay

And Sol begs for worthiness in the sunrise at the dawn of every day

She’s the magnum opus of Creation, the center of the universal spiral

I prayed to God for meaning and purpose, it was flowing off her hair, floating off her lips and beaming out her eyes all the while

I imagine Saturns’ as your ring and the Milky Way as the aisle

But you and I is not an idea you can reconcile

On no one else’s energy could it burn, inside of my chest you put an all consuming star

It feeds the sensation I feel of you no matter where I go, no matter how far

But I thrive off of it, even if I know what we aren’t and what we are

And my longing is too tender for it to ever leave a scar

I’ll wait for the sky to dissolve and for the stars to fall

I’ll risk drifting across a frozen, dark eternity to find out if I get it all

I’m dreaming of seeing the goddess, for a mere mortal, coming out from behind her wall

I dance alone if not, if so, the endless void shall be our hall
