Chaotic my middle name

matthew harris

a sample poem hot off the press
so handle with care
donning, jump/kick-starting
and trumpeting cape fear
once again, this not ready
for prime time player got bright idear
for the following poem to write
so go ahead and leer
but just do not lemme overhear
bewitching voices
easily mistaking sex pistol for rocketeer
especially visible thru my underwear.

Chaotic my middle name

Though clarity to express

poetic thoughts my penultimate aim
the riot of mailer daemons
actually facets of my psyche I blame
chaotic my middle name,
and strictly mine discombobulated claim,
the following lines extemporanesously
typed with stark awareness
aging baby boomer here
goes to great lengths
to embellish and declaim
his quirky and circumlocucious wordiness,
a personal choice hoping
to generate attention
to harried style and
swiftly tailored reaction I exclaim
nope, NOT for fortune NOR fame
but essentially being nonconformist,
the scribe averse to follow the game

rules (his neigh saying response - horse feathers)
as established two thousand
twenty six and
first ten months after hippodame
ruled the world wide web
(an obsolete and rare word

meaning a sea horse

or hippocampus in mythology,
or alternatively a female horse tamer)

blithely gambled her luck against
a relative newbie jockey
on the silver screen

who won the high stakes
at most contested
and coveted horse race
Lead Role: The Blob (1958)
filmed on location in Phoenixville)

where First Starring /
Steve McQueen came to the rescue
defying audience expectations
that he would meet his demise,
after an accidental fluke of Hollywood
unwittingly spliced
with the following utter rubbish
surprised appearance of "Stuffy"
in real living color Harpo Marx
transcended immortal supremacy similar
claiming to be biologically linkedin
which film version prediction
on the world stage after winning battle
against a plethora of enemies
synchronized among riders in the storm
on his high horse Hi-hat
with nostrils that did inflame.

for no rhyme nor reason, I bid thee adieu.
