Walls

gray0328

the white wall stretches endlessly upward

above it, the sky births itself green

in its quiet vastness, angels' wings ripple

the stars hum indifference into my skin

the sun leaks down in broken rivulets

its touch dissolves yellow into the white

and I am left aching, wondering if light

is enough to fill cracks in the mortar

now the wall blurs, turning grey and jagged

its face torn by hands desperate to escape

the sourness pools here, thick as tar

steps spiral behind me, dragging me inward

the red wall trembles, a fist of blood

its opening, its closing, a heartbeat of fear

inside me, only fragile bags of breath

each longing for air while drenched in dread

above, black walls hum with circling birds

their cries sharp, indifferent to our mortal grief

the world moves, cold and relentless,

its blanks rushing to swallow us whole.

A lovely write my friend that is symbolic and surreal in a blend with the reality of its imagery. Well done
