Letters to Her #5

JWKP98

I’m self aware enough of my shortcomings to not assume, but it appeared to me as though we were on the same page

It’s madness, for all the near certainty, I got the wrong gauge

And so this heart stays closed, cold, shut down in the ice age

And everything looks different through glasses colored rose

But I can never read people, I know why, even still, me, it always throws

So I’m unaffected, but still confused, c’est la vie, so it goes

I don’t need romance out of this to enjoy the vibes and tone

But you didn’t even feel at the skin what I thought we both felt to the bone?

It shouldn’t be such a surprise, this is the type of misjudgment to which I am prone

But how was it nothing when I felt everything and more?

We were watching sunsets on the beach, now everything I thought I knew washes up broken on the shore

I feel no animosity, but time and time again, I am shaken to the core
