falling from the trees—
a globe of autumn scenes—
bigotry rains down.
autumn days shorten,
giving way to longer nights.
most hearts stay hardened.
a coolness settles
into the dark, mid-fall night;
homelessness walks by.
ghouls paint their houses
with monsters and candy corn;
zombies seek your vote.
why hate a season—
autumn, winter, spring, summer—
when you’ve become hate?
autumn is now here—
a season of fright and fear—
a season for change.
