It Came from My Hypothalamus

Gelyn

When I speak, my words take flight,

Not from Broca’s realm of might.

But when I feel, where do emotions start?

In my hypothalamus, not my heart.

Why, you ask, would I believe

That thoughts and feelings there may weave?

A tiny part of my brain so grand,

Where nerves and hormones work hand in hand.

So every word I speak aloud,

Every feeling, fierce or proud,

May rise from depths that few can see

Beneath my brain, above my heart,

Where science meets the mystery in me.
