In stillness
Like blankets worn
Evening shadows lay
That await the dawn
The wooden cross
Arms oustretched
A soldiers helmet
Peace at rest.
The Summer
And Autumn passed
The ground is cold
Winters frost to test
The dying blooms
Of flowers laid
By strangers
Upon his grave.
Midnight it falls
The shadows stay
The wind it whistles
As if to say
Here lies youth
So coldly taken
I fear mankind
In war forsaken.
