Reflection

Sphinx

He looks into the mirror, seeing the image of the person he once used to be,

Barraged by storms, broken by life, he asks "is this really me?"

A strong heart that used to once exist, capable immensely of love and affection,

Punctured enough, by many-a-deception

This was not how he had envisaged life to be,

It was to be not too tough, nor too easy,

But alas, the maker had something else in mind,

Test after test, keeping him in a bind

A difficult choice he made in the past,

Not knowing how long, the grind was meant to last

No longer does his heart manifest the name he was given,

"Was this what you wanted?" he says, looking up to heaven

One hopes he finds someone to hold his hand and treasure his soul,

To make him encore- joyous, radiant and whole.
