Tundra Paths

Matthew R. Callies

Snow drifts stretch for miles,

Laika threads between the herds,

Eyes sharp as cold wind.

Paws press frozen ground,

Silent as the northern light,

Guiding reindeer home.

Ears flick at distant calls,

Every sound a story told,

Tundra life unfolds.

Night descends slowly,

Curled beside the warmth of fire,

Dreams of open plains.
