Keeping a secret discretion forbids
The blind tell who see what They once did
A baby's tears having long disappeared
As They've long since grown up,though in a way are still here
Thoughts forgotten are remembered in time
For inclusion in poems, whether free verse or rhyme
When that who gave birth to You passes away
Would You forfeit Your life or decide You should stay
A birth coinciding with one having died
The cycle of life in which one should take pride
A Doctor tells one hope when there's not
Knowing better than most that's all that They've got
A dying child looks up at Their Dad
And says You did Your best so please don't be sad
In an ideal World,no one says Goodbye
But that's proven impossible each time that I cry
An older Woman tries her best to be couth
Knowing Her smile is all that's left over from youth
A phantom dream of one thought to have died
Though are alive and well in the tears in Your eyes
A private viewing at the funeral home
Leaving You and They all alone
To exchange the words You've wanted to say
Since well before You parted that Day
A spouse,a sibling,a parent or child
Their memories alive in the last time They smiled
Starry skies of tinted glass
Seen through the tears of those who have passed
And as She departs this physical realm
For that which has been reserved for Her
And where We find Ourselves at the moment
Intersperses with where We were
I'll whisper to Her one last time
You were never second best
Not by a long shot baby
As if You hadn't already guessed

The difficulty of saying good bye to a loved one and the cycle of life as one replaces another. Nicely written it speaks with a somber sadness. Well done
