The can tilts back, a breath held tight,
A burst of laughter fills the air.
One gulp, one cheer, the dizzying flight,
The can tilts back, a breath held tight.
Friends shout warnings, some mock, some bite,
As bubbles rise with reckless flair.
The can tilts back, a breath held tight,
A burst of laughter fills the air.

- Comment from author about the poem: Shotgunning is a means of consuming a beverage, especially beer, very quickly by punching a hole in the side of the can, near the bottom, placing the mouth over the hole, and pulling the tab to open the top. The beverage quickly drains, and is quickly consumed. For more information, visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotgunning
