The Breath You Are Taking Right Now

It is easy to live as though tomorrow is a promise written in stone. We plan for next month, save for next year, and push off the conversations, the hugs, and the quiet moments of gratitude until "things calm down." We move through our days assuming that the people sitting across from us at the breakfast table, or calling us on the phone, will always be there when we finally get around to appreciating them.

But life does not work on a guarantee.

Think back to the times you’ve seen someone taken without warning. A sudden phone call, a split-second event, a sudden loss—no warning signs, no time to prepare, and no chance to say one last goodbye. We have all seen how fast a life can be cut short, completely out of nowhere. The heartbeats we take for granted are not infinite; they are a daily grace, a gift lent to us minute by minute by our Creator.

Recognizing that life is fragile isn't meant to make us fearful—it is meant to wake us up.

Never, ever go to bed mad at each other.

If you go to sleep carrying anger, you are gambling on a tomorrow that isn't promised. You may never get the chance to give an apology, and you may never get the chance to hear one. There is already too much war, too much conflict, and too much strife in this world. Don't bring that war inside your own home or carry it within your own heart. Choose love instead. Life is far too short to spend a single night letting pride win over peace.

If today were the absolute end of the line, would the people in your life know—without a shadow of a doubt—how much they meant to you? Or are those vital words still sitting in your chest, waiting for a "better time"?

Don't let pride, busyness, petty arguments, or simple hesitation stop you from reaching out. Do not let good things slip away while you're busy looking past them. Take life off autopilot. Look at the people around you today—not as background scenery in your routine, but as precious, temporary gifts.

Before you move on to the next task, before you put down your phone or close your eyes tonight:

Reach out to the Lord: Stop right where you are, bow your head, and thank Him for the breath filling your lungs at this exact second.

Reach out to everyone in your circle: Pick up the phone, send the text, or walk over to your family and loved ones friends neighbors as well. Clear the air, make peace, and tell them you love them today while they can still hear your voice.

We do not own tomorrow. We don't even own the next minute. Don't let anything hold you back—reach out, love deeply, make peace, and make this moment count.

How is this section landing for you?

Does it capture that vital reminder about putting down anger before the day ends?
