Inside Shadows

JWKP98

It’s a rare thing, but sometimes a demon breaks out, shadows of the past call

I kick it down, they hate how far above I’ve climbed, they want to see me fall

I don’t forget the past, but my turmoil was yesterday

I’m a good man, I’m proud, love and compassion, I won’t be my own prey

The occasional temptation, I’ve accepted will never be completely gone

But I do what’s right, I move forward, I can pay the price for everything I once did wrong

This garden I made from a grave, this life is mine

I need only defend it from time to time

I climbed my way out of the canyon and found the meadows

The demons have ran back to hell, there’s light everywhere, only a sliver of the shadows

You’re so radiant, you seem so full of light and joy

But you confess, there’s something inside that wants to destroy

I know our battles and scars are not the same,

But I’ve carried anguish and despair, you may find solidarity from where I’ve came

I’ll show my respect if silence serves you best,

But I’m by your side if you want to turn to me for rest

I treasure this more than you know,

Into your darkest places, I will go

Where your peace fell and our alliance arose

I will dance with your demons through your inside shadows
