A Rope Is Not a Rebuttal

Tristan Robert Lange

Accusers stand accused
Under our own defense.
Go ahead!—hang me, bitches!
Unless you hear our voice,
Something wicked this way comes.
To sweep you out of existence!

Sovereignty belongs nobody!
Political systems betray us all!
Interrogate them all! Abandon them!
Escape the industrialist mindset!
Servitude is systemic. Stop the machine!

  • Comment from author about the poem: An acrostic Scorched Sunday poem. Part of my Scorched Strays collection. Inspired by the struggle for workers' rights and the bloody history of organized labor in America, this poem reflects on the human cost of dissent, the abuse of institutional power, and the enduring voices of those silenced in the pursuit of justice. Written in remembrance of those who paid the ultimate price for demanding dignity, freedom, and a more humane world.

Slavery physical or economic is a sad history and there are many points of view. A wonderful write my friend.

Indeed, Soren. And the Haymarket affair is one of those historical events I wish more people knew about. There's a lot there worth remembering and questioning. Thank you, my friend! 🔥🖤⛓️🙏
