Reality On The Rocks

Fran

I listen to the sound of waves

Crashing onto the rocks

I look at the white foam

They send towards the beach

If only you’d respond

I’m reaching out, as far as I can reach

A ship in the distance

A lighthouse beaming a bright red light

My eyes are getting heavy

If you don’t give in

At least I can tell myself that I have tried

Some lost drops sprinkle on my feet

A reality check, that’s exactly what I need

But who am I kidding , that is not what I want

I want to get through to you, even if I can’t

A pair of seagulls pierce through my horizon

A breeze of wind brushes through my hair

If I’d close my eyes and just dissolve

Would you even notice, and if you did, would you care

The night is falling

Slowly spreading a blanket of stars across the sea

Early stage, still tender and thin

My shoes in one hand, my heart in the other

I get up and breath the salt air in

One last look before I turn around

I went looking for answers

A peaceful few minutes is all I found
