Longing For a Way Out

Fran

I just want to disappear

Blink my eyes and vanish

Shielded from everything that can and will cause pain

Nothing left to lose, nothing left to gain

Burst out into colors and then just fade away

I’m tired of hunting, tired of being hunted

No longer want to be the hunter, nor the prey

Done with thinking about which lies to believe

Which ones to put aside

Which dogs will bark, which ones will bite

A break from dealing with stupidity

‘I think therefore I am’,

There should be more precise conditions

Which need to be fulfilled before being able to be

No more tricky dialogues or watching what I can and cannot say

No more wondering about which assets of myself are acceptable to display

Freed from pressure, freed from expectations

No one pointing out opportunities or limitations

Hidden from eyes that can judge

From minds that will misinterpret

And fail to comprehend

Cut off from the many who always seem to misunderstand

A little wave and then a “poof”

With a little bit of glitter dust

Gone I am

Hoping to return after a vital refill of hope and trust

Hi Fran, I'm going to give you 10 out of 10 for this one, I love it!
Your poem is both intriguing and poignant, I liked the words " with a little bit of glitter dust, gone I am " Excellent work my friend.
