Though difficult at first
Though baseless it was
It still was my mission
To give hope to the hopeless
To give life to the lifeless
To give joy to the joyless
To give happiness to the morose
Through rain and sunshine
Through disaster and destruction
I still thrived to achieve my mission
A mission others thought made me
A betrayer, liar, traitor and a busy-body
That never deterred me
T still moved on
Helping those who didn’t realize
Sacrificing for those who didn’t care
All in all
I never gave up
I never lost hope
For one day, maybe, one day
My deeds may be realized
And just a little ‘thank you”
Will forever be enough
Just to gladden my heart
But till then my mission will be my vision

You obviously have a mission in life Barbara, but you may have to wait many years before you receive any thanks for it. I liked your poem, if only all of us could give that much the world would be a better place. Nicely done ! BF
