As I sit opposite of you
I realize the conversation
Had merely taken place in my own head
You hadn’t actually pronounced
The most striking things you had said
I had fooled myself
And in doing so
I had got myself to bring
Such crushing disappointment
Imagination
It sure is a powerful thing
