HAPPY DAYS

       HAPPY DAYS

Gone are the happy days

When we were the boys

We would play different out door games

And call the girls by names

We would climb a tree

And run with a spree

Pick the neighbors’ guavas

Swim in the canals or rivers

We would watch movies only in the theatres

And visit friends during the holidays

Or spend our time with our relatives

Go to the farms and eat the raw fruits

During the religious festivals

We would gather in the villages

Celebrate them with happiness

And delightful emotions

These days boys stay only indoors

And play only video games

They are glued to the televisions

And do not know the significance of festivals

They watch movies in the home theaters

And watch the live cricket matches

These boys don’t enjoy the beauty of their boyhood

And don’t care for their neighborhood

They don’t eat even the natural food

Their way of living is not at all good

  • Comment from author about the poem: I THINK THE BOYS THESE DAYS ARE DEPRIVED OF THE BEAUTY OF THEIR BOY HOOD BECAUSE OF THE CHANGES OF OUR LIVING.I WOULD LIKE TO COMPARE THE PRESENT WITH THAT OF THE BYGONE DAYS ACROSS THE GLOBE ESPECIALLY IN INDIA
