A verdant state of mind

Poetinthebackroom

The trees engulf me like a mellow green tapestry

Set to one side of the blanket landscape on which I stand

The path I take is dusty, dirty yet comforting and carpet like

Leading me deeper into a waking dream

I enjoy the natural smells that fill my mind

I smell green, red, orange and yellow

I taste the spring air on my naive tongue

I cannot believe I have never visited this state of mind before

Deeper I sink into the delicate foliage

Unable to stop my descent, but unable by my own choice

I watch the blue sky disappear beneath an ocean of green

An ocean in which I will float in for the foreseeable future

Floating away into nothingness
