A Bride Without A Groom

erinfarina

I’m a bride without a groom,
Clad in red songket,
Searching for a soulmate,
Whom I might never meet.

I’m the lady in red,
I’m the one who got no date,
I yearn so much for someone who’ll say,
I love you night and day,
And I love you all the way.

A man who cherishes every precious moment,
Every second with no lament,
Sacrifices with all his heart,
Until death do us part.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Songket (as seen in the photo) is usually worn by the bride during a wedding, as part of tradition in my country. This poem expresses how a woman yearns to have a soulmate. By wearing 'songket', she indicates that it is high time for her to get married but sadly, she doesn't have anybody special yet.
