The first time we met,
27 years had gone missing
this deep feeling inside
that makes life so confusing.
The woman that you are,
makes my heart go a reeling
like a giant blue carousel
that couldn't stop spinning.
You are who you are,
honey comb and hives
as I am who I really am,
living separate lives.
Our moms I can guess
are so much a bother.
Since all of us share
the love of one father.
I wish that eventually
we'll be together again
like one happy family
minus the trouble and pain.
Welcome back dear sister,
back into our lives,
I'll be a good brother
the best you'll ever have

- Comment from author about the poem: Can you imagine how it feels to meet a sister you never met for 27 years? We didn't share the hair pulling and the couch nudging and the plate robbing days of innocent sibling rivalry which would've removed all the awkwardness of meeting her for the first time. She was as much a stranger to me as any other beautiful 27 year old woman. We sat and exchanged childhood pictures, stories and tears whenever we could. In the absence of our dad, she now shares her problems with me and I was always there for her proudest moments such as her graduation, her wedding day and during her most trying moments
