I went shopping the other day
Cannot resist a bargain
Bought myself an umbrella
Although the sun was shining
Had lunch and then left the mall
And to my big surprise
The sun was gone, the sky was gray
It was pouring rain outside
My brand new umbrella saved the day
The cold hale felt like pellets
In all my life that was the day
I was ready to face the weather
Since then, I've walked in rainy days
But now I am prepared
For I no longer walk alone
I'm holding my umbrella

Soki... Like your new umbrella; I am more of a canvas hat man myself. Well done... In the first stanza, missed the letter N in the word lunch; that will be three laps around the park and carry the umbrella with you. BWP... James...
Thank you BWP for reading and commenting on my poem. Also for spotting my typo and letting me know. Instead of doing three laps around the park I did three laps around the pool and then sat down under my unbrella LOL Have a wonderful evening, soki
I applaud your poem and your desire to be ready for the changing weather
Thank you bigwolf. In my family I'm famous for losing umbrellas all over the place, therefore I am forever getting drenched. This time I even surprised myself. Hoping I can hang on to this one, soki
keep a hold onto your umbrella
would a wet rose still smell as sweet
Yes if you call it dewy instead of wet .LOL
you would not become dewy, someone would pick you and admire you
Thank you Sir, you are a charming Southern gentleman and I really appreciate it, soki
nicely done and a story well told! i had expected to find you had left the umbrella behind, but was pleasantly surprised with your lovely ending.
And I was pleasantly surprised by your lovely comment. Thank you so much.
