Preparing for His Finals

Preparing For His Finals

He sits in his lonely room

rosary and prayer book in hand

knows his end is near.

Friends he had now long gone,

he held himself above them

superior intellect

he laughed at their beliefs

in a God and heaven

and especially Hell.

Now that his death is sure

he wonders could he have been wrong

perhaps he thinks he made a mistake

to judge them all so quickly,

he should pave the way to cover his bases.

So each night he reads the bible

says a rosary every hour

watches mass on TV

reads a prayer to be prepared

in case there is a God in heaven.

he spends his days and nights

preparing for his finals.

such a sad but true story of not knowing and thinking you've known all these years...suddenly it's upon you and you have to worry. was I wrong and then make up for lost time. Very well penned.

Beautiful baj-a, also very sad to wait until the end to take his finals when the rest of us know that every little quiz counts toward the final grades. I always enjoy your poems, especially this one for the way you approached the subject, soki
