Southward

bigwolf

You fly southward on steady wings

Staying ahead of the winter's cold

But as soon as the warm airs again flow

You will enter countless dreams

Your songs will announce the day

As the bright flowers grow

Living content until the following snow

Once again, we are again to part ways

I love my birds. The bluebirds have come back so I know it's really Spring. They sing so beautifully. Some of the smaller birds stay up north here in PA. I don't know how they can take it. They are so tiny like the chickadee. But all winter they don't sing. I always wonder why that is. I loved your poem. good job bigwolf.

I love the birds too, but it takes so many to make a soup.

ah yes we have the beautiful feathered birds that migrate south for the winter and then those two legged snow birds who crowd the roads with cars and cause traffic jams as they migrate to their winter homes and then head back north at the first sign of spring. enjoyed your poem 🙂

Thank you, aren't those two legged birds called yankee birds

          we call them snow birds

I thought you meant those two-legged birds without feathers.

I love all your poems. and I love birds but I agree with bai-a , the first sign of spring is when snowbirds drive home and we get our beaches and roads all to ourselves, soki

I am too far from the beach, but not close enough to the mountains. Thanks for commenting.
