I begged you not to leave with all I had.
I pleaded, I bribed and I lied.
Just to make you come back to get me...
I thought I had a chance.
To get the love in return that I craved from you.
I was blinded by your love and bound by your side.
If you asked me to jump I would ask how high.
I didn't want money or fame.
I just needed your love just the same.
You knew when you left you would regret it.
After all these years I still fight the pain.
This battle inside remains.
I wonder what my life would be like with you.
My first real true love that I couldn't keep.
I had you for a little while and oh it was sweet
I fought back the tears when you went away.
Thinking and hoping you would return some day.
To take me away and make memories.
But now you haunt me in my dreams.
I dream about us being content with each
other as we once were. Nothing could hold us
back from the love we shared.
It was too strong and we really cared.
But now that's all in the past.
I must learn to grow without you my love
and just daydream here and there,
of how our sweet love could have been
in the green pasture rolling hills.
Where the birds sing and the trees blossom
and it's fresh in the spring.
On your land with your new home and well.
It wouldn't matter about all the nice things.
What would matter the most is
I would be with my sweet true love instead of in my dreams.
