No one told me my name

No One Told Me My Name

·

Who am I cried the black man with

No name

Black man with the stigma

Attached to his chains

·

Wakes up with amnesia

cause No one told him his name

Purposely obscured

Knowing there's power in one's name

·

The meaning

 the root the etymology

The core, the navel,

The destiny

·

What's in a name that smells so sweet

Like a rose

But seen as rotten as can be

Forgotten is his name

Never found his destiny

Lost in obscurity

·

Who am I cried

The black beaten children

Desperate for a father?

So hungry for a name

·

The root

The etymology

The light replaced

With darkness

·

Who am I

Cried the black beaten pedestrian

Killed cause of color

Died cause they were famished

So hungry for a name

·

Who am I cried

the yelling black man

From the cold cell of his

Lost mind

·

My name is the the light they tried to hide

The meaning they tried to obscure

But no more

·

Who am I cried the meaningless

Person from obscured darkness

Longing to be important

·

Wearing another's name

Like the clothing someone worn

·

Who am I cried the  generations

Blurred and obscured
