Mourn No More

Forgotten_Poet

Our eyes cry
Our souls pour
The pain we can’t
Hide anymore

We grieve
We mourn
For the ones
Who were born

Those we lose
Those who die
We try to conceal
The tears we cry

But they are freed
From their chain
The life they left
Nothing to gain

So they had to go
Had to say goodbye
They’re happy now
No need to cry

They are where
They should be
There’s nothing more
Left to see

This is what’s best
For those we love
They had to be free
To go to God above

So dry your eyes
Let your soul be free
We’ll see them again,
You and me

  • Comment from author about the poem: I lost my baby brother before he was even a full 24 hours old. That was in 1999. It still hurts my mother, as it would anyone with a heart. I wrote this in hopes of trying to comfort her and in dedication to my baby brother. R.I.P.
