The silence

Phil Heslop

Terror grips our panicked limbs

About to meet the Reaper Grim

Body screaming - just don't go

Keep it steady, Keep safe stay low,

No man's land calls us to fight

Climb deaths ladders into the night

Enemy weapons spit rain of fire

Heroes gripped by spiked barbed wire

A beautiful silence falls around

A blanket of friends upon the ground

Calm and peaceful at the end

Never to see home again

By Charlie Heslop (aged 10)

In remembrance of all who fell to make us live.
