Deaf and Blind

Sandra

I fell in love, and assumed
You would catch me.
  I was wrong.

I’ve never quite been so blind, but,
love does that to you.
  Right?

You stood there and
  watched
    me fall.
Indifference written on your face.
Proving, what I suppose,
I have known, deep down, all along.

I’ve got this record stuck on repeat.
Though, part of me did think
  we were dancing to
  a different tune.
So, I guess, I am also quite deaf.

Excellent descriptions, I love how direct this piece is, a sense of acceptance. Much enjoyed.

Ah well, Sandra, I figured I might as well read all three of your poems.

Again, like the two others, I do like this poem because it is so well written. You wrote about being blind and deaf, so let me conclude with a quote by Helen Keller:

Once I knew only darkness and stillness... my life was without past or future... but a little word from the fingers of another fell into my hand that clutched at emptiness, and my heart leaped to the rapture of living.
