SYRIA I'M SORRY

justwrite

Their tired screams echo through earth.

The sky mourns the loss of life.

the mountains tremble at the wrath of man.

But God is great, and can do what no man can.

And as the trees stand tall, they can only be made to bend,

by fire or by blade, but they stand firm until the end.

like soldiers holding onto, every hope and watch them gleam...

of freedom and a heroes end, to give life to those who dream.

And when the sun returns, to dry the blood and tears they stole.

It leaves a stain, and will forever remain tatood upon my soul.

I cannot and must not, forget what they have done,

They ripped out souls of children,

of parents, any and everyone.

But they are not trees, their legs run with all their might.

so would yours, if you saw your mother raped and set on fire, all within one night.

If you watched your children starve, or beg to taste some water

or watched your fathers head roll down the road  after witnessing his slaughter.

If the sounds of bullets, bombs from the world who should defend you,

was all you heard as you tried to sleep, you'd be amazed at where your legs could take you!

Syria we see you, we hear your cries from here

We are so ashamed, of how you were treated when you ran for help in fear.

People mocked you, they treat their cattle with more grace.

Their hearts are black as they send you back with the look of pain stamped on your face.

Im so angry, and I feel a stranger, in a world I thought I knew.

Hold tight oh world, more pain to come, just think, that next it could be you.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was appalled at the treatment of refugees from syria and other war torn lands... While lots of good samaratins helped and did good work. being irish/arab i was taken back to reality that we still live in a day and age of ignorance and hatred , id appreciate any comments or feedback on my write.x

I appreciate this, very much. The world makes me very sad. Seeing fellow humans living with so much pain while I sit comfortably in my room writing this comment. It bothers me deeply, and I only hope that one day the worlds humans can realize that we are all alike-just living beings trying to make it through the sadness of the world.

Thank you for your thoughts and time.
I agree, we are all just people at the end of the day... We all eat drink and bleed, love and hate, laugh and cry, amazing how we all have the same needs but are soooo different within our hearts.
I hope one day the world will see peace finally
