When we look back on life, we see more clearly
than when we were living it in the moment.
Every turn had its purpose, every stumble turned us towards hope, every person made an impact and every valley
held the promise of a mountain top.
Every step we take, every moment we live, every thought that we think, they all are a part of us becoming something
that we never thought would be possible.
Our future is being formed each day and looking back reveals the tapestry of the journey
in so many awesome and interesting ways.
It is only from this vantage point
that we can be truly thankful, and only from this view
that we can truly understand life's purpose.
Today we have crossed one of the many finish lines in life,
but if you look back, you will see the greater picture,
and that you are destined for great purpose.

- Comment from author about the poem: I am always reminded to enjoy the journey and to not allow the past to define the future, but to use to understand the place where I am. The destination may be unknown, but the measure of the future is not balanced on the fulcrum of the past.
