Awaiting Day

riana1705

I have done the same thing, again and again
All in the effort to save others from the pain.
Waiting for them, and waiting for the day
While in the moon my spirit lay.

I have felt their love, and felt their sadness
Watched their dull eyes light up in near madness.
Waiting for the sky to clear, waiting for their delight
While my own became their dynamite.

I have stood to one side, so that children could play
But I have never yet felt the day.
I have told myself that they don’t understand
That they can only dream of fairyland.
And that my dreams remain dark, shadowed,
Non-exsistent, abandoned.
That they have only known a world of dreams
And should never be told how the world seems
To the person who remains
Waiting for the pain to go away.
