Together

louiscowell

I think about mum every night.
I ask myself questions.
What was she like?
How old is she now?
What did she do for a living?
And then I think.
What did mum and I do?
Together.
I remember the day.
When dad sat us on the sofa.
He told us what happened.
That we wouldn't see her again.
I remember him crying while saying it.
I remember the funeral.
I was sat by Auntie Claire.
I didn't know what was going on.
I don't remember crying.
I don't remember dads speech.
I don't remember what she was like.
I don't remember how old she was.
I don't remember what she did.
And I don't even remember what we did.
Together.
It makes me cry thinking about her.
It makes me cry trying to remember what we did.
Together.
And then.
I remember what I do have.
An amazing sister.
Amazing friends.
But most of all.
I have an amazing dad.
And what do we do?
Together.
We do everything.
Together.

I lost both my parents before I was 20 years old. I feel your pain.
