I need shelter.
I need a place to hide my fears, two arms to hold me, two hands to wipe my tears.
I need shelter.
I need protection from emotional strife and the constant putting down. I need someone to make me their shinning light that helps them through their night.
I need shelter.
I need no one that won't need me to be just who I am. I want no one to change me, 'cause I'm my own unique man.
But I need shelter.
It just keeps getting harder with every word that's said. They say that words can't hurt you, but the words are killing me.
I need shelter.
Shelter from the ones I love, shelter from my past. Shelter from the way I feel and my mind just runs too fast.
I need shelter.
Just a quiet place to lay my head and give my heart a rest. Two arms to reach me, two hands to heal me, a love, without request.
I need shelter.
I need a shelter that needs me.
I need shelter from the shelter of not being alone, the one where no one hears me when I speak. Shelter from being misunderstood when understanding is all I seek.
I need shelter.
I need shelter from the ignorant that think they're so smart, and think I'm crazy when I jest. I need shelter from the know it alls who understand so little, at their best.
I need shelter.
I don't need shelter from the rain and wind, or the sun and stars above, I need shelter from this darkness, shelter from my love.
I need shelter.
And even though I'm the shinning light for someone very small, I feel like only darkness, as though I'm not a light at all.
I need shelter.
Relieve me from the boredom. Remove the eggshells from my path. Clear my vision that's gotten cloudy from the view from jaded eyes. I'm just tired of this war.
Send me shelter.....I need shelter.

Our need for love, to love, can be so overwhelming. Be well.
