Inner Space

Inner Space

The functioning brain full of neurons,

Firing off electrical charges explosively.

Thought waves, mind patterns constantly sparking.

Sleeping, dreaming, waking to consciousness.

Always operating, zig zag, zig zag, ever aware.

Controlling, monitoring the biological systems.

Sensors picking up sound and light waves,

Computing physical and emotional responses.

From the first wave to the final flat-lining,

The brain is the nerve centre, mother ship,

Managing every action, thought and breath.

Whether constructed by God or Nature, is not verifiable.

Does the Soul, the Spirit, the Essence of Being,

Survive the physical death of the brain?

Can the quintessential life force of Man

Escape inner space into the great beyond,

Ascending through space and time, on and on, Soaring towards measureless infinity?
