This Heart

Tezira2015

Love like life.
Life like love.
I fell hard.
Smack came the concrete when this heart realized this fairy tale rejected a happy ending.
This time, for the first time, I assumed this heart be unbreakable.
But it overfloweth. Drowning in blood. Oh, this heart knows blood.
This heart knows savage beating.
This heart knows bleeding like it’s a distant friend turned close enemy.
Enemy stay real close this time.
Enveloping heart with warmth while stripping its clarity.
Heart be confused. Ordering love but purchasing pain.
The price I payed.
The risk I took to hold your hand tightly.
You left me hanging
no helping hand in sight.
The sorrow I felt.
My grip had me protected from predators.
Preying on my heart for breakfast.
Crushing my held fast dream that one day this heart,
this girl be bold, be unbelievable.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Sometimes your heart breaks. Sometimes you feel hopeless without a direction to travel in, but heartache has a few cures, and poetry just so happens to me the most effective. So, I wrote away the sorrow. Love is life. Life is poetic.
