Puzzle Piece

d.e.mayall

My love was lost, as I grew old,
The fires dwindled,
My heart grew cold.
Having searched to find someone to care,
I began to slip,
Into a solemn despair.
Perhaps it was true,
I had an unlucky soul,
The love,
The happiness sought,
My only goal.

Oh so close,
She was nearly missed,
Such radiant beauty,
So sweet,
So crisp.
We sat,
We spoke,
We found it fun,
We carried it on and let it run.
How we laughed and we joked of a love we missed,
It drew us so close,
Then we finally kissed.

The sparks grew the fires ignite,
Within my heart burns a ferocious light.
We stand and watch,
Together as one,
The day dwindles,
Slowly,
Then finally gone.
The piece I was missing,
My Golden Fleece,
My one, my only,
Puzzle piece.
