While She Exists

kjheins

engulf her life.

broken

fragile

so unbelievably needy.

She calls with urgency.

“Get back to me as soon as you can.”

click.

My own triumphs can’t be celebrated while she exists.

She received a ring so full of diamonds

two months were overshadowed by bling.

He bought her flowers

each week

after week

for weeks.

Four weeks.

love.

My own fears mean nothing while she exists.

She just can’t lose anymore weight.

She just can’t eat anything.

She is allergic and co-dependent

and

I have no sympathy.

I am cruelly unattached.

sick.
