Slip into Older

Mike carter

Life presents us with choices

On rainy, sunny days We search around,

to find our places Then realise,

they’ve been arranged

The words we speak, seem so familiar

Because we’ve heard them, all before

Just when I think, the day is lonely

I hear you knocking, on my door We laugh and cry,

because we have too It follows us,

right through our lives We leave some things,

so far behind us But somehow memories survive

We try to understand, each other Sometimes we lose,

and then we win Then when we think,

the race is over Someone whispers,

let’s begin As we grow up, slip into older

We sit and watch, the world roll by

And then we hold, each other closer

So we can’t see, each other cry Then the trees,

all welcome springtime We feel the warm wind,

on our skin While sitting quietly looking outward

As we visit, what’s within As we grow up,

slip into older We sit and watch,

the world roll by And then we hold,

each other closer So we can’t see, each other cry
